Tonight Sam, age 12, shot his first deer, a young doe, probably a 1 1/2 year old. He dropped her in her tracks at 188 yd. Good shot Sam! That's a long shot for a first deer. Oh, did I mention that she was running?
Sam was nearly too sick to hunt, but was determined to go anyway. It looks like it payed off for him. There is nothing special about the deer except for the fact that it was his first. For more pics go to, http://picasaweb.google.com/burkco/SamSFirstDeer02
That makes 3 deer for us this season. We are so thankful for the meat. It's been 2 or 3 years since I personally killed a deer. Last year Mahlon got his first 2 on the same night.
